Ash NYC can’t stay in one place for too long. For the past ten years, the Brooklyn-based, multidisciplinary design and property firm has made a name for itself with a string of hotels across the United States, including the Siren Hotel in Detroit, New Orlean’s Hotel Peter & Paul, and the Dean in Providence, Rhode Island. Now, Ash has its sights on the West Coast.
The firm’s long-standing staging division (that focuses on designing model apartments) has opened a new office in Los Angeles and is celebrating the westward expansion with a temporary show house in Venice, aptly named the Broadway House.
Staged houses are intended for buyers to envision themselves living in a space, but they often receive the reputation of being sterile or impersonal. This Broadway House however has no shortage of personality.

‘We felt really inspired by the house, but also the kind of lifestyle the location offers and types of people who could live here,’ says Andrew Bowen, Ash’s director of staging. ‘Even though we are a staging company, we wanted [the house] to look like it was fully designed and thought out over the years.’
Ash brings some California cool to the space by featuring brands with a strong West Coast presence. Highlights include Parachute Home’s linens, candles from Boy Smells, Entler’s lighting fixtures, and artwork courtesy of Creative Art Partners. Thoughtful touches like skateboards and play tables in children’s bedrooms complete the space, turning this house into a home.
As the real estate game goes, it’s all about location. Fortunately, the space does not disappoint. A stone’s throw away from Venice’s trendy Abbot Kinney, the 3,812 sq ft home boasts four bedrooms and four and a half bathrooms. Though the bungalow dates back to 1910, it was recently transformed into a large, modern house by architect Noah Walker.

‘I want it to be a fun place for where people want to linger, hang out, and chat,’ Bowen says. ‘I want people to fit right into the experience and forget what they’re doing.’ Ultimately, Ash’s show house means business. The Broadway House is currently on the market for nearly five million USD. But in the meantime, Bowen hopes it can serve as soothing home away from home.
